A. Cleaning industry:
It is used as an ingredient in cleaning products or as a main component in the removal of wax, grease deposits and other organic soils. It is also used as an anticoagulant to prevent the aggregation of fine particles into larger aggregates. It works well in "non- contact" car washes such as mud solvents, bitumen cleaners, wheel cleaners, etc.

B. Cosmetics:
Used to increase the solubility of compounds in water, thereby improving the removal of impurities from skin and hair. This component is used in the manufacture of make-up removers such as micellar water. Some ready-to-use fragrance compositions containing 0,1-5 % by weight of hydrotropic SXS use it as a stabilizer. C. Metalworking:
Used for cleaning and preparation of metal surfaces, as it effectively dissolves grease and prevents the aggregation of fine particles into larger particles and their deposition on the surface.

D. Water treatment:
Used to bind hydrogen sulfide (a rotten egg smelling compound). It is commonly used in waste water treatment and in oil drilling.

E. Paint industry:
Used in paint strippers in combination with other components. Its purpose is to increase surface wetting, thereby increasing the penetration of the solvent into the paint layer and facilitating the removal of paint from the surface.

F. Paper industry:
Used to extract pentosans and lignin. It is a superior component compared to sodium cumene sulfonate due to its ability to solubilize non-polar compounds.

G. Agriculture: Used in the manufacture of various plant protection products where the active components are of fatty origin (e.g. herbicides) and are difficult to mix with water. In this way, sodium xylene sulfonate increases the penetration of the active substances into the plant.
